2019 marks the 13th annual NSW ceremony commemorating the service and sacrifice of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander veterans and those serving in our armed forces today.
A group of EHS students attended the ceremony yesterday to show their respect and to say ‘thank you for your service’.
The theme of Reconciliation Week is ‘help us to walk together with courage.’ It’s hoped that through the wisdom of the elders and the enthusiasm of the youth we can achieve this together.
The service began with a traditional smoking ceremony.
Owen Shaw and Casey Rowan laid a wreath on behalf of Engadine High School at the War Memorial in Hyde Park. The group enjoyed a walk through the museum, which showcased Australia’s involvement in overseas conflicts.
