On Friday 12th May 2017, our U15 Engadine Girls took on Heathcote High School in their 3rd game to compete for the Bill Turner Trophy in Soccer.
The girls were confident after their two previous wins, however they knew it was going to be a tight game given the calibre of some of the opposition’s players. The contest started as expected, fighting it out in the middle of the park and both teams jostling to take control of the game. Heathcote High were the first to strike, scoring a goal which was simply too high for our goal keeper, Enya, to reach. But Engadine were patient and hungry and thanks to Taryn’s never-give-up attitude we hit back with a goal no longer than 5 minutes later to finish off the first half 1-1. The second half saw Heathcote have a few chances early on until finally they were successful in scoring again. And then unfortunately, Engadine were unable to match the quality of the touch and power of their opposition. Heathcote went on to score another two goals to make the score 4-1 at the blow of the final whistle. This means that we have been eliminated from the competition but I would like to take this opportunity to thank the girls on their awesome efforts and their parents for their continued support. A special thank you must also go to our Engadine linesman, Anthony and referee Brodie Merchant who did a fantastic job in officiating the match.
