Over 60 of our students and their generous sponsors have raised an incredible $10,003 during the 2019 40 Hour Famine Backpack Challenge. The efforts of our students will have an enormous impact on the lives of children and families caught up in the refugee crisis. Our students are helping to change the lives of the most vulnerable people and children in our world forever by giving them access to an education, medical care, clean water and so much more. We are extremely proud of our students.

Student reflections

The 40 hour backpack challenge is a fantastic event that we enjoy supporting and participating in each year. Over the weekend we loved challenging ourselves and attempting to experience the life of a refugee. We set up camp in a backyard, with clothes and food in our backpacks. Throughout the 40 hours we attempted each challenge, and continuously competed with the weather. We decided to take part in the 40 Hour Famine Backpack Challenge this year to show our support for the millions of people seeking refuge around the world. While our experience will never equate to the hardships refugees must face daily, it was eye opening to uncover a small part of what a refugee’s life would be like. We hope to participate in this challenge again next year and continue to show our support and raise donations for this important issue.

Overall our team of Ellie, Aurelia, Ruby, Taylah, Bella and Paige raised $571.31.
