Premier's Reading Challenge

Engadine High School

Engadine High is encouraging all students in Years 7, 8 and 9 to participate in the 2018 Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC). This will form part of the English Program and Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) Programs. The Challenge aims to encourage a love of reading for leisure and pleasure in students, and to enable them to experience quality literature. It is not a competition but a challenge to each student to read, to read more and to read more widely.

Year 7 students have been issued with a green PRC Personal Reading Log. Additional copies are available in the Library. The PRC log sheet is to be pasted in the back of the student’s English Workbook. As the students finish reading a book they must enter all the details on the green sheet and have their teacher or Library staff sign the form. Once the form is signed the students are responsible for entering all the details on the PRC website. Online registrations are open.  Students are encouraged to do this once they finish a book rather than at the last minute.

All information including the Student Reading Record can be found at:

Students need to log on to the site using their DoE user name and password and follow the instructions to enter the details of the books read. There are a number of options to search for the book details including the PRC ID number.

Rules for the Challenge are available on the website. Students need to read 20 books in the 7-9 category before the 31st of August, 2018. This includes any books they have read from the 26th of August last year.  Fifteen books need to be recognised by the PRC. These books are easily identified with a blue PRC 7-9 label on the spine in the Engadine High School Library collection. Five books can be choice books. Only two books from any series can be included in the Challenge. Please note that picture books, magazines and non-fiction books are also included in the PRC.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask the Library staff or Ms Edwards.

Good luck with the Challenge and let’s get reading!!
