There are a range of sporting opportunities for students of all ability levels. Sport is divided into our weekly sport for Years 7-10 held on Wednesday afternoons and State-wide competitions in a variety of sports from Under 12s through to Under 18s.
Students in Year 7 rotate through a set number of sporting activities throughout the year. Each 5 week block allows for the development of specific skills to develop and foster an on-going active lifestyle.
Students in Years 8-10 have a wide-variety of sports from which to choose. Our choices cater for experienced, learning and beginner surfers, through to skateboarders and Zumba enthusiasts; we also offer boot camp for the fitness-minded students, as well as powerwalking along the beaches and esplanade of Cronulla for those keen on fitness with a view. We offer canoeing and ten-pin bowling, as well as fishing and circuit training. We also offer a range of traditional sports such as soccer, tennis and Oz tag, amongst many others.
NSW Combined High Schools (CHS) is the oldest continuous school sporting body in Australia and they run competitions across a range of sports; both team and individual. At Engadine High we enter teams in a range of these competitions. We have a proud tradition of success in a number of sports. The staff here at Engadine High school run a vast number of teams, across a variety of sports, in a number of age groups.
We run three annual carnivals: Swimming; Cross Country; Athletics.
These are very popular and well attended. We encourage all students to participate in our carnivals to earn points for their Sporting House, points that may be the difference in the overall tally. For those more serious competitors there exists the opportunity to go onto represent at Zone, Regional, State, and National levels.
Each student at Engadine High is assigned a Sporting House which is determined by the first letter of their surname. Our Sporting Houses are Jibbon (Blue), Garie (Green), Audley (Red), and Wattamolla (Yellow).
