After 18 months of preparation, rehearsing and organisation 72 students from Years 8-12 and 5 teachers have embarked on a 13 day Performing Arts Tour to the United States of America focusing on San Francisco and Los Angeles.
1ststop is San Francisco, home of the Golden Gate Bridge and cable cars. The band will perform at the famous Pier 39, Fisherman’s Wharf and California’s Great America Theme Park, whilst the dancer’s will be taking classes at the Alonzo King Lines Ballet and are fortunate enough to watch the San Francisco Ballet perform.
Upon arrival in Los Angeles, the students will travel down to Anaheim where both groups will be performing at the Happiest Place on Earth, Disneyland. The band students will participate in a soundtrack workshop with experienced Disney technicians as well as have their own 30 minute performance showcasing their brilliant musicianship. The dancers have the wonderful opportunity to perform in the Main St Parade in Disneyland with dancers from across the world performing to “ I Wanna Be Like You” from the Jungle Book. They will also perform apart of the Disney Dance Spectacular.
Both the band and dancers will take part in numerous workshops in LA including The Edge PA, Millennium Dance Complex, Culver City High School and Sheldon High School. Offering top technicians and learning experiences, the students are sure to have an amazing time learning new skills.
A trip to LA is not complete without seeing the Hollywood sign, Downdown LA, Griffith Observatory and of course the Hollywood Walk of Fame! Nearing the end of our tour, the dancers will be performing their 30 minute show at Universal Studios whilst the band are the very first group to perform at the brand new OUE Sky Space!
With a jam packed itinerary, full of new adventures, experiences and friendships, all students and teachers involved are bound to have a brilliant time. We wish them every success on their tour and can’t wait to see the photos and hear about their incredible once in a lifetime experiences!
